“…ผมชอบดูหมีขาว ผมชอบนึกภาพหมีขาวนอนกลิ้งอยู่กลางลานหิมะเวิ้งว้าง ใช้ชีวิตเรียบง่ายสงบสุข ไม่มีเสียงเตือนจากโทรศัพท์มือถือ ไม่ต้องยื่นแบบภาษี ห่างไกลจากฝุ่น pm 2.5 และอากาศร้อนระอุ
เวลาค้นหาหมีขาวในอินเตอร์เน็ต ภาพที่ขึ้นมาอันดับแรกๆ มักเป็นภาพที่ได้รับความนิยม คุณจะเจอภาพครอบครัวหมีขาวแสนอบอุ่นกลางหิมะ เจอภาพหมีขาวทำท่าทางตลกๆ ที่ถูกเอามาทำเป็นมีม บางทีต้องใช้เทคนิคในการค้นหาสักหน่อยถึงจะเจอภาพที่ตรงใจ ผมเซฟภาพที่ชอบใส่โฟลเดอร์แยกไว้เป็นหมวดหมู่ รู้สึกเหมือนตัวเองเป็นแฟนคลับดารานักร้อง
ผมวาดรูปหมีขาวโดยดูจากภาพถ่ายที่สะสมไว้ แต่ปัญหาคือผมไม่รู้ว่าสีขนของมันเป็นขาวเฉดไหนกันแน่ ขาวเหมือนขนหมาหรือขาวเหมือนขนแกะ ผิวสัมผัสของขนสีขาวนั้นนุ่มหรือหยาบแค่ไหน ตอนนั้นเองที่ผมนึกได้ว่าผมไม่เคยเจอหมีขาวตัวเป็นๆ เลย
มองย้อนกลับไป หมีขาวที่ผมเห็นล้วนมาจากกระบวนการถ่ายภาพที่ผ่านเครื่องไม้เครื่องมือมากมาย ภาพเหล่านั้นถูกคัดสรรด้วยอัลกอริทึมอันสลับซับซ้อน ส่งสัญญาณไฟฟ้ามากระตุ้นหลอดไฟดวงเล็กๆ นับล้านที่ฝังอยู่ใต้จอภาพให้เปล่งแสงขึ้นมา หลอดไฟสีเขียว แดง น้ำเงิน สว่างวาบพร้อมกันจนเห็นเป็นกลุ่มแสงสีขาว ไม่มีวิญญาณอยู่ในนั้น ไม่มีหมีขาว วิญญาณของเราเองต่างหากที่กำลังเต้นรำร่ำร้องอยู่ในแสงไฟ… “

“… I like watching polar bears. I like imagining a polar bear rolling around in a vast snowy field, living a simple and peaceful life—no phone notifications, no tax forms to file, no PM 2.5 dust, no sweltering heat.
When I search for polar bears online, the top images are usually popular ones. You’ll find heartwarming polar bear families in the snow, or funny poses turned into memes. Sometimes, I need to dig deeper to find images that truly resonate with me. I save those in a separate, organized folder—like a fan collecting celebrity photos.
I draw polar bears based on those images I’ve collected. But the problem is, I don’t know exactly what shade of white their fur is. Is it like dog fur or sheep wool? Is it soft or coarse? That’s when I realized—I’ve never actually seen a polar bear in real life.
Looking back, all the polar bears I’ve seen come from photography, filtered through tools and devices. Those images were chosen by complex algorithms, transmitted as electrical signals that activate millions of tiny light bulbs under a screen to emit light—green, red, and blue pixels flashing together to create white. But there is no soul in that light. There is no polar bear. It’s our own spirit that dances and cries out in the glow…”

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 นิทรรศการแสดงเดี่ยวครั้งที่ 10 โดยศิลปิน เนียม มะวรคนอง งานแสดงชุดนี้สอดคล้องกับกาลเวลาและประสบการณ์ชีวิตของเขา ในวันที่ภาพรอบตัวเคลื่อนไหวรุนแรง ข้อมูลรวดเร็วท่วมท้น ศิลปินกลับพยายามชะลอหัวใจให้ช้าลง ปรับแต่งภาพความรู้สึกภายในให้ค่อยๆเด่นชัดขึ้น ซึ่งไม่สำคัญว่าภาพนั้นจะต้องคมชัดสมบูรณ์แบบ แต่เขาได้ตระหนักรู้ว่าภาพนั้นคือความจริงของหัวใจ
ในนิทรรศการนี้ ศิลปินนำเทคนิคทางจิตรกรรมที่สร้างการรับรู้หลากหลายมาใช้อย่างท้าทาย ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงความตื่นตัวต่อองค์ความรู้ ไม่ถดถอยหรือย่ำหยุดกับที่ ทั้งการใช้สีปฐมภูมิ สีแสงเคลือบฉาบหมีขาวให้อยู่ในบรรยากาศแสงและเงาที่แตกต่างกันอย่างน่าทึ่ง หรือการแตะแต้มแม่สี RGB แม่สีดิจิทัลเพื่อสร้างภาพที่ละมุนละไม ลวงและพรางตา พร่าเลือนราวกับอยู่ในละอองหมอก ซึ่งพื้นที่ว่างและรูปที่ลงตัวนั้นไร้ส่วนประกอบสัญลักษณ์อื่นใดมาเติมแต่ง นับเป็นความกล้าหาญของศิลปินที่ละวางความไม่จำเป็น คงไว้เพียงใจความสำคัญที่เขาอยากนำเสนอ
ในนิทรรศการ 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ครั้งนี้ ยังมีผลงานซีรีย์พิเศษในชื่อชุด ” ฝุ่นสีขาว ” จัดแสดงควบคู่กัน ซึ่งงานชุดนี้สร้างขึ้นในช่วงเวลาที่ศิลปินเริ่มตั้งคำถามถึงความคมชัดสมจริงของข้อมูลหน้าจอที่ถูกประดิษฐ์ขึ้น รายละเอียดที่สมบูรณ์แบบนี้กลับว่างเปล่าสำหรับเขา ภาพจำในอดีตที่สร้างจินตนาการและเต็มไปด้วยความอิ่มเอมใจคือสิ่งที่เขาโหยหา
หากจะเปรียบ 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 เป็นเวทีเต้นรำแห่งแสง สี ที่นอกขอบเขตของกาลเวลา ” ฝุ่นสีขาว ” คงเป็นท่วงทำนองแห่งเงาที่มีจังหวะระทึกตื่นตัว เร่งเร้าถึงปริศนาในดินแดนแห่งความทรงจำที่ไกลแสนไกล
และเช่นที่เคยเป็น งานของเนียมยังคงมีเอกลักษณ์ที่เชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมได้เดินขึ้นขั้นบันไดแห่งการรับรู้ ความงามแห่งจิตรกรรมเป็นแรงดึงดูดแรกให้ก้าวขึ้นไป เพื่อเข้าไปในประตูแห่งจิตสำนึก ค้นหาภาพในพื้นที่ใจของตนเอง ภาพหมีขาวและสัตว์หลายชนิดกลายเป็นภาพแทนการยอมรับโดยนัยว่า พื้นที่ว่างในหัวใจมนุษย์นั้นเวิ้งว้างกว้างใหญ่ และเรามักแสวงหาบางสิ่งเพื่อเติมเต็มไม่รู้จบ ธรรมชาติ ความฟุ้งฝัน และจินตนาการ เป็นดังพรมแดนอิสระแห่งการเยียวยาที่ไร้ขอบเขต

จัดแสดงพร้อมกันที่ Joyman Gallery ตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม ถึง 22 มิถุนายน โดยเรียนเชิญทุกท่านเข้าร่วมงานเปิดนิทรรศการในวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม เวลา 17.00 น.
“Dancing in the Light”, the 10th solo exhibition by artist Niam Mawornkanong, aligns with his life experiences and the spirit of the times. In an era where images move rapidly and information overwhelms, the artist seeks to slow the heart, to gently sharpen the inner vision. It’s not about whether the image is perfect—but rather realizing that the image is the truth of the heart.
In this exhibition, the artist boldly employs a range of painting techniques to evoke diverse perceptions—demonstrating his active engagement with evolving knowledge. He does not stagnate. He explores with primary colors and luminous overlays, casting the polar bear in astonishing atmospheres of light and shadow. He subtly uses digital primaries—RGB—to craft images that are soft, elusive, and misty, with no extraneous symbols cluttering the composition. This minimalism reflects the artist’s courage in letting go of what is unnecessary, preserving only the essence he wishes to convey.
Also featured in “Dancing in the Light” is a special series titled “White Dust,” created during a time when the artist began to question the hyper-real clarity of screen-based information. For him, that perfection felt empty. What he truly longed for were the remembered images of the past—rich with imagination and joy.
If “Dancing in the Light” is a stage for timeless dances of light and color, then “White Dust” is a rhythm of awakening—stirring with vitality and urgency, evoking the intrigue of distant memories and inner reflections.
As always, Niam’s work invites viewers to ascend the staircase of perception. The beauty of his paintings is the first step—a lure leading through the gateway of consciousness to search for images within one’s own inner world. The polar bear, and other animals, become symbols of an unspoken truth: that the empty spaces in our hearts are vast, and we endlessly seek something to fill them. Nature, dreams, and imagination become boundless realms of healing.
“Dancing in the Light” and the series “White Dust” will be exhibited together at Joyman Gallery, Bangkok from May 18 to June 22, 2025. All are warmly invited to the opening reception on May 18 at 5:00 PM.
